How do you create sales content that gets you seen?

Are you putting all the effort into creating content to market your business, posting consistently and following all the tips from the experts, but starting to wonder how you create sales content that actually works?

Have you asked yourself if your marketing content is actually shaped to sell?

Your content might look great, but if it’s not driving sales or action, then it’s time to take a closer look at where you can make tweaks and improve things.

What is sales content?

I often talk about four types of content: growth, nurturing, sales, and connection. Each plays a role, but your sales content is what moves your audience forward. deeper into your funnel.

It’s the content that nudges them from passive follower to active participant. From simply reading your posts or watching your reels to starting a conversation in your DMs, subscribing to your list, and of course making a purchase.

At its most obvious, sales content drives direct sales. But more often, it’s the gentle pull that guides someone deeper into your world, helping them take that next small step towards working with you.

Sales content examples

As a visual person, I love to share examples of different types of content so that my audience can see how to tackle their own content. I regularly share good content examples in my regular Inspiration Edit email and on my Instagram too. If you’d love some sales content examples right now, take a look at the blog I wrote called The many ways to sell one thing  or subscribe to The Inspriration Edit.

The shape it to sell it content quiz – now retired

To help you diagnose where you might be going wrong with selling in your content, I started with a quiz designed to help you pinpoint where your content strategy might need focus and why you’re not getting the results you need.

It contained 11 questions and then provided a tailored report to help you dig into the key elements to turn your content into a powerful sales tool.If you completed the quiz, take a look back at the results you got! You’ll find some super helpful pointers in there.

I may bring the content quiz back again at a later date, but from March 2025, I’ve replaced it with a handy checklist to keep by your side whenever you are creating content.

The sales content checklist

If you’ve been marketing your business online and on social for a while, you’ll know that showing up and posting consistently is not enough to drive sales. And you’ll probably be feeling all the feels that there’s a lot of people making good money doing similar work to you, making the sales from their online content.

You know social selling can work. You bought the planner, the pdf guide, the business course, the trending new hydrating moisturiser that everyone seems to be getting and even birthday gifts from businesses you found on Instagram. This stuff works. And you’d like a piece of it please.

To help you ramp up the sales from your content and to see the difference between posting and posting with purpose I’ve created a social selling checklist for you.

What does content shaped to sell look like?

Creating content that’s “shaped to sell” is about aligning every piece with your overall goal, whether that’s making sales, attracting enquiries, or building a loyal following. It’s about turning your content into something that doesn’t just look good or get likes, but actually moves people to act. This checklist will help you assess if your content has the right hooks, calls to action, and alignment with your ideal customer to effectively drive sales.

It will also make you consider your offers / product suite and question how clear you make it for your audience to know exactly what you do and how you can help them.
